I'm Jim Traeger, founder of Master Builders of Avon, Inc. I'd like to tell you how our company began.
In 1991, when I sold my fifty-cow dairy herd, I didn't want to sell my farm, so I went to work with my brother installing farm equipment and building agricultural buildings. We worked a lot with EPS (expanded polystyrene) panels, better known today as SIPS.
In 1996, I decided to sell my farm and build a new home. I knew that the panels we had worked with over the previous five years were great for saving energy. That's what I wanted for my new home.
At a local home show, I met a representative from Enercept, Inc. Since I was looking for a company that worked with residential energy panels, Enercept fit the bill. They took my design and manufactured my home. With the help of my family and a few friends, I was able to construct my own home. I also became an Enercept Dealer.
